IS Technical Services Specialist

The Department of Workforce Development/Administrative Services Division is currently seeking applicants for an IS Technical Services Specialist for the Bureau of Information Technology. This full time position is located in downtown Madison at the GEF 1 building.
Salary: Salary is between $25.763/hr. and $42.509/hr. depending upon qualifications. A six-month probationary period may be required.

Job Duties: This position provides advanced level Windows Operating systems support, including hardware support, client/server application support, and project management in the Technical Services Section of DWD BITS. Responsibilities include: research, evaluation, project planning, software and hardware configuration, capacity planning, implementation and on-going support for operating systems, such as Windows 2003/2008 Server, client/server software, internet software, AD domain management, and other related software, such as performance management and virus protection software (on Windows servers).
Special Notes: Because of the nature of the position, a background check will be conducted on final candidates prior to selection for the position.
Knowledge of: server administration - especially Windows Intel-based servers; server software tuning concepts; applications architecture design concepts; Windows Server software installation and maintenance processes; information systems concepts, principles, practices, and techniques; software development environments including test, development, training, and production; systems implementation issues and methods; system monitoring and maintenance techniques; and various resources for researching new and emerging technologies and determining applicability to project requirements.
Effective oral and written communication skills. Group presentation skills. Skills in identifying and investigating system development/enhancement and performance issues. Organizational and time management skills.
Ability to: analyze and troubleshoot computer hardware and software technologies; and to participate in complex IT projects.
