GLITC: TRIBAL OLDER AMERICANS ACT (OAA) TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE SPECIALIST

TRIBAL OLDER AMERICANS ACT (OAA) TECHNICAL 
ASSISTANCE SPECIALIST

This position is involved in a variety of activities in support of Tribal Aging
Unit programs including, quality improvement of aging services, technical
assistance related to the requirements of the Older Americans Act (OAA),
individual and organizational advocacy, planning for new services and
promotion of existing services and assurance of service quality.  Technical
Assistance Specialists are expected to maintain a broad network of Tribal
community relationships to promote agency visibility and help achieve
agency goals.
The successful candidate must maintain understanding of current policies and
procedures related to aging programs, in particular Title III and Title VI of
the Older Americans Act and assist Tribal Aging Units to manage changing
needs of tribal consumers.
Working out of the Central Office in Lac du Flambeau, WI, this is a fulltime, exempt position with benefits.  Starting salary range is $34,000 to
$41,500 per year.  Drug testing is required before hire and random thereafter.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a major in social work, sociology, human services or
equivalent.  Three years work experience in a human services environment,
preferably with seniors or people with disabilities and experience in
advocating for change in policy or programs related to better meeting the
needs of older people.  Experience with a Native American Tribal
organization and/or not-for-profit agency desirable.  Individual must possess:
excellent verbal and written communication skills; be well organized and
show initiative; have good grammar, spelling, punctuation and basic math
abilities.  Must be flexible and able to respond to changing priorities and many
interruptions.  Must possess valid driver’s license and/or reliable
transportation with adequate insurance and ability to travel.
